A card that meets or exceeds the following standards (from the Microsoft.com Vista/GetReady/System Requirements page).
Windows Aero requires: a.. DirectX 9 class graphics processor that: a.. Supports a WDDM Driver. b.. Supports Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware. c.. Supports 32 bits per pixel. A card that meets these requirement and has 128MB of ram (256MB recommended) will be ready for Aero Glass (Vista special effects).
Please review the nVidia, ATI, or other card manufacturers' websites to see the features available on their cards and which of their offerings meet the above standards. Any of their new offerings should meet these requirements.

An NVIDIA GeForce FX5200 128MB AGP 8x or an Ati Radeon 9500 128MB AGP 8x can be had cheap. But then again, it really depends on what kind of slot your computer has. If you really want good performance with Aero Glass I'd recommend at least an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or Ati X1k series cards with 256MB of video RAM. I have an Ati Radeon X1600 PRO AGP 8x with 256MB GDDR2 RAM and it works great with glass. Gets a 5.9 for the GPU and gets a 4.3 for the RAM. It would really help to know what kind of slot you have. (PCI-Express X16 or AGP 8x, etc.) "Aman" wrote in message

Additionally, before you buy the video card you're seriously thinking about, make sure there are Windows Vista WDDM drivers for it. "Colin Barnhorst" wrote in message
