You sample program is just *barely* Linux compatible. That is, as long as you're using an x86 machine, and as long as you patch the source to `#include <stdio.h>' or 1b) Your company is too cheap to buy you a proper graphics card, but stupid enough to let you waste your hours tweaking your X performance.

You havent mentioned a graphics card (unless I missed it). Graphics card can be a drain on the PSU but a good quality PSU like the Antec should be fine. I think this is the case you can get the additional soundproofing for? I've gone for one I guess will be noisier - the Antec Plus 1080AMG with the 430W PSU.

One of the graphics cards in the test was a 7800GTX. That ought to have stressed things a bit. A little Googling found a test of a different make of nVidia 6600 card on your mainboard: http://www.nvnews.net/reviews/xfx_geforce_6600_ddr2/index.shtml I can't guess why the MSI tech would give you such a line.
